Commercial Insurance Assistant

The Commercial Insurance Assistant position is responsible for managing the Client’s Commercial Policies and acting in a proactive manner to ensure compliance and accuracy.  This position serves as the client’s main contact for issues and problem resolution relating to Commercial Insurance service.  In addition, this position serves as the Workers' Compensation Manager to handle and manage all aspects of client's Workers' Compensation Policies

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other Duties may be assigned.

  • Assist Insurance Sales Staff by procuring commercial quotes using information generated on a fact finding sheet.
  • Ensuring commercial insurance renewals are handled timely, reviewed with customer for accuracy and changes.
  • Preparing client correspondence regarding policy renewal including rates, forms and payment information
  • Discussing premium changes with Clients upon request
  • Assist commercial lines department in all aspects of growth and compliance.
  • Request and forward certificates of Insurance per client request
  • Order additional insured and waiver of subrogation documentation
  • Perform and tasks as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Must have or be willing to gain P&C Insurance License

 

COMMUNCATION SKILL LEVEL

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Power Point.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bi-lingual (Spanish) is helpful.  Comfortable speaking in front of large groups and dealing personally with lots of different personality types.

 

CERTIFICATIONS and/or LICENSES REQUIRED

Driver License and dependable vehicle with knowledge to properly use the vehicle.  Appropriate state insurance licensing.

 

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USE

Must be proficient with general office equipment including: telephone, computer, fax, printer, copier, blackberry and Outlook Calendar.
